Laura experienced complete heart block and passed out. First responders arrived within 7 minutes, and while hooked to EKG her heart stopped, requiring CPR. During unconsciousness, she first perceived a great void, then saw a hazy light in the distance that she swam toward. The environment resembled a combination of cave formations and underwater passages (cenote). She found herself in an underwater cave trying to reach the surface and light. The path was uphill at a 75-degree angle. As she reached the boundary between water and air, she heard her name being called and regained consciousness, possibly coughing up water. She felt calm and driven throughout, with no fear despite normally being afraid of the dark. The experience felt like being in an underground underwater tunnel moving toward light.
