Joshua was drinking heavily due to relationship issues when he consumed excessive amounts of Jack Daniels, leading to violent vomiting and choking. He collapsed unconscious in the bathroom where his mother found him face down and not breathing. While she performed CPR following 911 instructions, Joshua found himself in another realm - standing on a crowded path with people of various backgrounds staring at him. He saw a city skyline with silver skyscrapers surrounded by mountains, a blue lake, and green vegetation. The path had glass-paneled railings of bronze stone. He could faintly hear his mother crying and the emergency operator while experiencing this cold, clear environment. After taking steps toward the city, he suddenly returned to consciousness surrounded by paramedics. Later research led him to NDE accounts of a "City of Light" matching his experience.
