Jeff experienced a STEMI heart attack on March 28, 2019, and drove himself to the hospital where he collapsed at the emergency room entrance. He was taken to the cardiac catheter lab where he was in and out of consciousness. Suddenly he felt symptom-free and realized he was observing his body from about 30 feet away while the medical team worked on him. He tested his cognitive functions and found his memories intact with extraordinary clarity. He then found himself on a short-grass prairie watching a black cylindrical cloud approaching on the horizon, which he understood to be death. As the cloud nearly reached him, he heard a voice behind him asking about the typical NDE elements like tunnels and angels, after which he could breathe again and returned to his body with a thud. He awoke later with electrodes and equipment, having survived the heart attack.
