Carrie, age 17, fell from her galloping horse and suffered a traumatic brain injury, resulting in a 10-day coma. She has vivid memories of viewing her unconscious body from 15-20 feet above, crumpled on the ground in her jeans and pink shirt. Everything was still and silent with no one else present. She later observed herself from above on a hospital gurney near a nursing station with warm golden lights and in the CT scan room. Both memories were quiet and serene, with her just floating and observing her lifeless body. She felt it was as if she was given a choice whether to return or move on. After waking from the coma with hearing loss and brain troubles, her life crumbled - going from being voted friendliest in her class to becoming withdrawn and struggling with PTSD for 25 years. Remarkably, exactly 25 years later during PTSD treatment, she experienced a spiritual reunion while walking, feeling her spirit return with a rush of joy in her chest. She discovered a 100-year-old grave of another Carrie B. and heard ravens like those that spooked her horse, feeling her whole body humming with connection. She believes her spirit may have been partially separated for 25 years before fully returning.
