Bruce experienced a severe accident that left him unconscious for 48 hours. During this time, he went through a tunnel and left his body, seeing himself lying on the bed. When he emerged from the tunnel, he saw his deceased best friend Trey standing on a mountain. Initially not recognizing him from behind, Bruce called out and Trey turned around. They communicated telepathically without physical bodies. Bruce asked why he was there and if he was dead. Trey said he wasn't dead, just in a different reality. Most significantly, Trey told Bruce not to blame himself for Trey's death, saying it was his own fault, not Bruce's. This was deeply meaningful as Bruce had carried guilt for years, believing he should have been with Trey the night he died and that it should have been him instead. The experience brought resolution to years of survivor's guilt. Bruce saw his past flash before him and felt overwhelming calm, unity with the world, and happiness. After returning, he changed from atheist to Christian and developed heightened sensitivity to energy and premonitions about danger.
