Tahira was visiting her sister-in-law at a hospital when she suddenly fell from a bench and fainted. She has no memory of what caused the fainting episode. During the experience, she felt her life continuing normally but she was not normal - she could see and hear people doing daily routine tasks and talking to each other, but they could not see her. She observed many people, including strangers, in an unfamiliar place she had never seen before. She saw her family doing routine tasks and other unknown people doing their work.
During the experience, Tahira noticed minute details she would never normally observe, watching what each person was doing with heightened awareness. She specifically remembered someone giving an antique teapot with a long spout to someone, thinking it was really nice. She believes this was her elder brother giving it to his wife who was in the hospital. She felt she was going somewhere and was about halfway there, walking on an unpaved road with nothing around it, not even trees, when she heard her brother's panicked voice repeatedly shouting her name trying to wake her. She tried hard to answer her brother because she could sense the tension in his voice. After a few moments, she woke to find her brother rubbing her hands and frantically calling her name. Doctors had gathered around her, she had wet her pants, and her brother reported her eyes had been open with tears rolling down while her lips were blue and she was cold and sweating. The entire experience seemed to happen very fast with everyone rushing. Following the experience, Tahira feels she should pray five times daily as prescribed in Islam for a happy, calm eternal life. She gained an understanding that people were following Islamic principles of love, care, respect, and helping each other in the place she observed. Her niece was born unexpectedly two hours after her experience, suggesting the antique teapot gift might have symbolized the coming birth.
