Seven-year-old Theresa drowned in a swimming pool after losing her grip on a flotation device. Despite her mother being present but inattentive, Theresa panicked and went under three times, unable to scream for help due to water in her mouth and throat. She experienced pure terror as she watched the sky slip away from underwater, then everything went black like dreamless sleep.
During her NDE, Theresa found herself observing her own body floating at the bottom corner of the pool with her hair covering her face and arms suspended limply in front of her. Her rainbow-colored swimsuit appeared brighter than ever before. She immediately recognized it was her body but felt she was no longer that person, experiencing complete peace and certainty. She felt herself being pulled upward and noticed the water transformed into warm, pure light that felt like a true mother's hug - beautiful serenity. The experience involved extraordinarily vivid sensory perception, with colors more brilliant than normal and vision sharper than usual. The light was pure, bright, warm, and seemed physical in nature, encompassing everything around her. She felt calming peace indicating all would be well forever, with no wrong ever again. The state felt completely right and natural. Theresa was revived by an EMT with beautiful blue eyes whom she initially thought was an angel. She felt intense anguish about being brought back, asking "Why did you do this to me? Why did you bring me back?" The experience left her with the most vivid memories she has ever had, remaining sharp even 29 years later. Remarkably, she never feared water afterward, finding it calming instead. She developed precognitive dreams in childhood that frightened her.
