Kimberly underwent surgery and woke up in the ICU with a strange memory. Unlike previous surgeries where she experienced no awareness, this time she had a profound experience while under anesthesia. During the surgery, her oxygen levels dropped to 60%, which indicates brain death level hypoxia. The doctor had to take extraordinary measures to revive her.
She found herself suddenly in a hallway where the walls, ceiling, and floor were made of light. Love was a tangible thing that she literally breathed in and out - the most amazing feeling ever. She suddenly knew where her deceased grandmother was and started hurrying down the hallway, eager to see her. The experience was one of overwhelming peace and love. Then she heard someone scream "KIM!" She turned around thinking "I forgot my kids" and knew she had to return. She immediately woke up in the ICU. When she told the story to her husband with the doctor present, the doctor's face went white. He confirmed that during surgery, for no apparent reason, her oxygen had dropped to 60% (brain death level). Nothing he tried was working to bring her back. In desperation, he grabbed her shoulders and screamed "KIM!" in her face, after which everything returned to normal. The doctor's confirmation of screaming her name exactly as she heard it while unconscious provides strong verification of her awareness during clinical crisis. She knows she was on her way to heaven and believes that had she been allowed to see the other side fully, she wouldn't have wanted to return.
