Nigel experienced two separate NDEs. At age 9 (1959), he fell from a tree and stopped breathing. During this childhood NDE, he traveled through a tunnel toward a light and encountered a voice that told him "it is not your time, you have to go back" as he had "things to do." The experience included profound peace, joy, and a sense of unity with everything. In his second NDE at age approximately 70 (2015), during three strokes over 24 hours with heart rate over 200 BPM and multiple system shutdowns, he experienced a life review where he was disappointed at how little he had accomplished. He encountered a presence who said telepathically "You have done enough; you can come over." He experienced a beautiful peace within a soft yellow/gold backdrop and had no feeling for family or friends, realizing how short life is in cosmic terms. He discussed his life with what he understood to be God, feeling guilt about not providing security for his wife. Despite being told he could cross over, he chose to return to fulfill commitments. The experience included insights that souls experience life through others and that existence itself is meaningful. His recovery involved relearning to walk and talk, with lasting personality changes including becoming more self-contained and better at understanding complex concepts.
