In July 1976, Brian and his friend John were climbing down a mountain face without equipment when Brian lost his grip at about 40 feet and fell to the forest floor. During the fall, he experienced everything in slow motion, tucking into a ball and having his life flash before his eyes - seeing only good memories, not bad ones. Upon impact, warmth came over him and he entered a brilliant, warm light with an overwhelming sense of well-being beyond words. He went into the light where his deceased grandfather was holding his hand. They communicated telepathically while walking together through a garden path that seemed foggy at times. Brian felt his grandfather's energy and love. They went before God, who appeared as a brilliant light so bright one had to look down, with no visible face. God told Brian it wasn't his time and he had other things to do for humanity. Despite begging to stay with his grandfather, Brian was sent back. His friend thought he was dead for about 30 minutes, saying "He's dead, what am I going to tell his mom!" Brian told him to shut up and get help. He suffered only a broken kneecap and minor injuries. The experience taught him that we are all the same, need equality, must stop categorizing people by religion/race/sex, and that the key to peace lies within each individual's heart.
