A woman six and a half months pregnant with placenta previa experienced a massive hemorrhage at home. After calling 911, she lost consciousness multiple times. In the ambulance, she entered a profound void of blackness - weightless, timeless, ageless, with no body, breath, sound, or attachment. She moved through a tunnel toward something desired, feeling pure blackened silence and total bliss with deep, unearthly love she had longed for her entire life. It felt like finally arriving home after a miserable journey. Time didn't exist - it could have been one second or a million years. When paramedics shouted her name, she was offended by the return to lights and sirens. She observed herself from above, seeing paramedics place an oxygen mask and insert an IV while the driver shouted. She felt no urgency, accepting either outcome. Returning to the void, she felt accompanied by multiple unseen presences, knowing she was moving toward somewhere she longed to return. She became aware of being a warrior meant to assist needed change, with a mission to complete that was decided before birth. Though the relief of being there was enticing, she knew she would return sooner than realized and the sacrifice would be worth it. The presences gave loving encouragement as she agreed to return. After a month hospitalized and emergency C-section, her premature daughter survived. She divorced her husband three years later, had a relationship with a man she'd always loved, and continues searching for her purpose. The experience brought lasting changes including difficulty with superficial people, compassion despite being walked on, trouble focusing on money-driven work, constant need for solitude, and getting lost in nature, art, music, and meditation.
