In July 1983, when Bouillot was five years old, he fell into a river at the foot of a bridge during summer while wearing boots and unable to swim. After initial panic underwater, he no longer felt his body and experienced profound happiness. In what seemed like a very short moment, he reviewed the happy events of his life in an accelerated fashion. He then found himself floating in white light in a state of weightlessness that felt very pleasant. He had the feeling of being gently asked to make a choice between living or not living. Despite feeling good in that state, he didn't have a strong wish to return to his body. Someone dove into the water and rescued him, bringing him back to consciousness on the riverbank where he felt very cold. The experience was characterized by happiness, calm, and peacefulness throughout. The worst part for him was being back out of the water. The five-year-old child experienced absolute calm and happiness that left a lasting impression.
--- Biblical Summary --- Biblical elements: The experience includes separation from the body during drowning, consistent with biblical accounts of the spirit departing the body. The white light and sense of peace align with descriptions of divine presence. The life review of positive events and the choice between life and death reflect biblical themes of divine sovereignty over life and death. Unbiblical elements: None identified. This is a simple childhood NDE without theological interpretation or unbiblical concepts.
