An 18-year-old man attempted suicide by hanging himself with an electrical cord noose. While testing its strength, he immediately lost consciousness and experienced clinical death. Upon dying, he became aware he was dead and was grabbed by four dark shadows that he believed were dragging him to hell. After praying to God, the shadows disappeared and he became a conscious dead person able to see his body hanging. He experienced time distortion and walked toward his house where his mother was sleeping. When attempting to climb the front steps, his foot went through them, confirming his non-physical state. He walked through the house with the floor at waist-height, stood at his mother's bedside apologizing for being dead, then suddenly time stopped and bent backwards. He found himself on the ground coughing with his mother crying and wiping his face with a wet cloth. His 4'8" mother, weighing just over 100 pounds, had somehow lifted his 155-pound body and removed the cord. Every blood vessel in his eyes had burst, making him look demonic. The experience left him more cautious in his words and actions, with a definite knowledge that God and the afterlife are real, and that there are literal consequences for how one lives.
