On April 21, 2020, James bled out during surgery with only 5 minutes before being declared dead. He saw a huge, round, colorful opening or pathway leading to a white church and small white buildings under blue sky. He felt no anger, sadness, or regret - instead experiencing powerful love, forgiveness, and being known completely. Seven male figures appeared, wearing long gray overcoats with faces of bright glowing light. Communication occurred through emotional feelings rather than words. Three figures on his left, then three more on his right approached non-threateningly. He badly wanted to stay in this place of intense positive emotions but was sent back. The experience transformed him from someone with PTSD and guilt to feeling accepted, loved, and whole. His personality changed to become more open and honest. He now believes in a higher power who "is not a bad guy" and learned how to forgive. The emotions were so powerful he struggles to express them, having never felt such acceptance and love before.
