Erin experienced cardiac arrest from overwhelming grief after learning her childhood best friend Todd had died. Todd had been her protector and telepathic soulmate since she was 6 and he was 21, caring for her through an abusive childhood. After losing touch for years, they were mysteriously guided to meet at a grocery store, reuniting briefly before he returned home to another state. After being forced back into her body against her will, she experienced a second cardiac arrest, during which Todd's spirit told her to stay alive and share their story. She slept for days on her bedroom floor recovering. The experience confirmed for her that souls exist before birth and after death in eternal love.
