Stanley, a broadcaster, experienced unexplained blackouts from 1989-1995. On Easter Sunday April 4, 1999, he had five blackouts in succession. During the fifth, he felt his body shutting down and ceased breathing. He left his body, rose through the rafters and roof about 30 feet high. He saw beautiful silver-white pearlescent light surrounding everything. Jesus Christ appeared as traditionally depicted. Stanley begged to return, feeling his life was too short with something important still to do. Jesus smiled, nodded, and he returned to his body. His wife noted it was Easter Sunday morning. Later he realized his purpose was caring for his wife through her Alzheimer's diagnosis in 2007 until her death in 2014. He had another episode on Good Friday 2006 but survived.
