Rachel experienced severe complications during a blood transfusion after childbirth. She lost consciousness after an allergic reaction to possibly infected blood. She left her body and traveled through a tunnel filled with photos showing different versions of herself, suggesting past lives. She encountered three immense columns of light who were beings of pure love - her spiritual family. They reminded her she had chosen to incarnate on Earth and must return. Rachel merged with the light, experiencing complete oneness and understanding everything about creation and existence. She was shown her newborn daughter and various future outcomes depending on whether she returned. After choosing to return for her daughter, she experienced two days of unconsciousness before recovering. The experience profoundly transformed her life, leading her to start an online community for trauma survivors and publish books about her NDE.
