Corina was in prolonged labor when decision made to use high forceps delivery. Given pain medication through IV that caused deaths, said goodbye as she felt leaving. Heart stopped, heard someone call for crash cart. Left body through corner where ceiling met walls, reached out and touched ceiling. Looked over shoulder and saw nurse pounding on chest, others delivering son. Saw baby's head crowning and knew had to return because baby needed her. Knew he would have hard life and wouldn't survive without her. Instantly back in body with intense pain. Son born healthy but developed dark bruises within 24 hours from traumatic forceps delivery. Labor nurse next day said "You know we nearly lost you yesterday" and was disciplined for saying it. Son now 41 with many developmental problems including autism, severe depression, bipolar disorder. Problems may have resulted from difficult delivery combined with family history of mental illness. Experience confirmed she needed to protect and help son through difficult life she somehow knew was coming. Felt overwhelming love for son and desperate need to protect him. Clear memories include touching ceiling tiles, seeing everything behind and below clearly. Experience gave her awareness that we exist after death, life has meaning and purpose, and she sacrificed anything including own happiness for her child. Now 67 with vivid memories of this and another NDE during chemotherapy in 1996.
