Kevin was stabbed in the chest by his girlfriend during an argument in 1990. One moment he was sitting in a chair, and the next he found himself floating above his body, watching paramedics attend to his physical form below. He experienced clinical death with cessation of heart function.
In the darkness that followed, Kevin was not alone. A presence was with him, and he experienced a kind of love he had never felt before - so profound that he did not want to leave. He felt a hand on his right shoulder as a kind voice told him he had to go back. When Kevin asked why, the voice replied, "The kids are going to need you." Though he had no children at the time, this message reached his heart and mind perfectly, and he immediately agreed to return. Kevin woke in the hospital, but about thirty minutes later, the same voice warned him: "You are about to leave again, but don't worry. You are coming right back." He then flatlined again, floating outside his body and watching nurses rush into his room. He felt no worry because he knew he would return, and indeed he did recover. Ten years later in 2000, while on a bus, the same voice told Kevin: "You are about to meet your wife. She needs you and you need her." They met shortly after and remain married to this day. The experience convinced Kevin that someone is waiting for us all after death, and the love he felt during his NDE remains unlike anything available in earthly life.
