James was accidentally shot in the heart with a nail gun, with the nail penetrating the left ventricle. His vision flickered and went into tunnel vision before he lost consciousness. He found himself suspended on his back with arms and legs crossed as if lying in a coffin. A wave of bright white light came over him, initially with discomfort, then another brilliant light brought release and bliss. A brilliant white hand appeared over his body that he felt was masculine. He was amazed at the brightness and euphoria, marveling at the clear fingerprint lines on the hand. Before he could ask why everything worked as it did, it was answered - the answer seemed simple but he couldn't remember it later. He heard a voice through his body say "You're all right, I like you." When the hand lifted, he was back in pain and found himself in the arms of a deputy sheriff. The experience revealed why things are the way they are, universal connection, and that there is definitely an afterlife, though he cannot recall the specific details. He feels he encountered God but not in the biblical sense. The accident was featured on the TV show Rescue 911.
