David S experienced a stroke (SAH - subarachnoid hemorrhage at brain stem) and his heart stopped while being transported between hospitals in an ambulance. He had little memory of events between the stroke and NDE, but the NDE itself remains crystal clear. From above and to the right of the stretcher, he looked down at himself but didn't focus on medical procedures. Instead, he saw his mother who had passed away months prior, sitting calmly without panic. They communicated somehow, with his mother telling him nothing could change the outcome, it was out of her control, but whatever happened, he wouldn't go through it alone because she would be there with him. He then looked up at the paramedic over him. Days later at Johns Hopkins Neuro center, when he could speak, he reluctantly told his friend (an ER nurse who witnessed the stroke) about the ambulance experience. She showed him a drawing he had made when first admitted - a picture of himself on the stretcher with his mother present, drawn before he could speak. This provided remarkable verification of his experience. The drawing captured exactly what he had seen during his NDE. His experience strengthened his belief in continuing existence after death and the reunion with loved ones, noting his mother appeared as a younger version of herself.
