Anne was in an indoor pool when two "friends" kept pushing her underwater. Each time she surfaced for air, she was pulled back down. After fighting hard and taking many breaths of water, her body sank and her spirit snapped out with a definite jolt. She drifted upward at a forty-five degree angle, feeling she was wearing a long pale blue robe or dress so long it covered her feet. She had no thoughts of lifetime memories or who she was leaving behind, just herself leaving. The next thing she knew, she was poolside coughing and her mother was freaking out. Though raised Catholic but agnostic at the time, this experience made her believe definitively that there is something after death and that body and spirit are separate.
--- Biblical Summary --- Biblical elements: Clear out-of-body experience with definite separation of spirit from body, consistent with biblical understanding of human nature as both physical and spiritual. The upward movement suggests ascension toward heaven. The pale blue robe could represent the white robes mentioned in Revelation. The experience convinced her of life after death and the reality of the spirit, aligning with biblical teaching about eternal life. Unbiblical elements: None identified. Brief, simple experience focused on spirit-body separation without any conflicting theological elements.
