On September 12, 1972, 14-year-old Sharon was on a synchronized swim team. During practice, she attempted to swim two laps underwater with one breath. She dove in and remembers doing the flip for the second lap, telling herself to close her eyes to make it go faster. She continued swimming 3/4 down the second lap before stopping underwater, floating to surface, then sinking. The coach jumped in from the opposite side of the pool. Sharon was unconscious while being pulled from the 5-foot section, laid on deck where her head hit causing a cut requiring stitches. During this time, Sharon experienced something entirely different: she left her body and saw herself not poolside but lying in her bedroom at home. She floated near the ceiling in a specific corner wearing a white flowing gown, with two beings in white gowns beside her - one appeared to be Jesus, the other partially blocked. The beings provided love, comfort and support. She watched herself in bed unable to wake up, like having crusty eyes preventing awakening. As sunlight streamed through the window getting brighter, she watched herself finally open her eyes and instantly returned to her body on the pool deck.
