In 1999, nine-year-old Samieh was traveling back to town when she started having a seizure with lack of oxygen to the brain, described as life-threatening. She found herself in a vast, dark place where she could still see despite the darkness. She lost awareness of her body and asked questions about where she was and how she got there, receiving no answers. She realized there was a void beneath her and she wasn't standing on anything - the earthly feeling of ground beneath feet was absent. She then saw a beautiful light shining on her from far away while her surroundings remained dark. She received an understanding that everything would be all right. Suddenly she opened her eyes in a hospital bed. For months after, she began hearing voices in her mind that helped with math problems at school. The voice would whisper her name at night, frightening her until she begged it to stop, which it did - something she later regretted. She believes the light she saw was God's light and that an afterlife definitely exists.
