Maria experienced a stroke after noticing visual disturbances and severe headache. Multiple out-of-body experiences occurred as she repeatedly left and returned to her body. She saw herself curled on the floor with her daughter, floated over her city seeing rooftops and gardens like an eagle, then shot out into space viewing Earth as a beautiful blue planet surrounded by darkness. A telepathic voice repeatedly told her to be calm and that everything was fine. After being hospitalized and blacking out, she witnessed medical procedures from above, saw herself in golden light hearing unrecognizable music, traveled through hospital corridors helping a confused elderly man having an OBE, and observed five doctors debating her case and deciding on a lumbar puncture. Upon awakening, she initially saw people as grotesquely deformed monsters before their appearance normalized. She was diagnosed with a cerebral vascular incident and required extensive rehabilitation to relearn basic functions.
