While white water rafting on the Rogue River during historically high spring currents, 19-year-old Navy servicewoman Laurie failed to navigate Blossom Bar rapids and was swept into the dangerous "Picket Fence" rocks. Trapped in turbulent water, she inhaled water deeply and after crying "God please help me!" went limp. Darkness turned white as she rushed through a tunnel at light speed, feeling warm, peaceful, and covered in pure unconditional love. She found herself in a cloud-like room with three crystalline beings refracting rainbow light who transformed into angels with fiber-optic wing cables. They communicated telepathically with electric-spark eyes radiating love. A larger angel showed her a life review book with images from conception to drowning, revealing a future husband and children. The angel Yahshael identified himself as being with her since creation and for eternity. He transported her to a vast golden wheat field with beautiful music where she felt the spirit of all living things and God's presence as warm light. She soared over an endless waterfall and saw a golden tree whose leaves became colorful birds. A mercury-like lake showed living people on Earth. At a fence boundary, Yahshael said she couldn't cross and must return to finish her work. He forcefully returned her spirit to her body, popping her clear of the underwater trap. Twenty-one people have died at that spot since. The NDE led to enhanced psychic abilities and spiritual rather than religious faith.
