At age 16, Kathy attempted suicide by taking a bottle of her father's heart medication. Her mother found her barely alive and called 911. In the emergency room, as medical staff worked frantically to save her, she heard "We are losing her!" and her heart stopped. Kathy found herself standing outside her body behind the ER staff, watching them use defibrillators, insert tubes, and place IVs. After feeling a tap on her left shoulder, she found herself in total darkness in a fetal position. A man appeared wearing a long leather coat - no wings, so she assumed not an angel. He asked if this was what she wanted, and she admitted it was stupid, just seeking attention. He showed her a distant light like a prism with rainbow colors and told her "Suicides are not allowed to receive the light; they remain in darkness." He spoke memorable words: "Life is a gift and it's not up to us to take it." He said it wasn't her time and he would send her back but put her to work. Kathy awoke in ICU after 32 days in a coma. Upon awakening, she began hearing voices of the dead. Years later, she realized she could communicate with deceased spirits. Now at 58, she uses this gift to help the dead receive the light and counsels those contemplating suicide, sharing her experience as a warning.
