Jon was at a lake with friends when his boat flipped over. While trying to save his girlfriend who couldn't swim, he was pulled underwater three times. On the third time, he remained submerged and took a breath of water instead of air, experiencing drowning. Jon describes a "pop" sensation as he left his body and slowly rose into the air, observing his body below and his friends approaching. He experienced overwhelming peace and love that he describes as the best day multiplied by a billion. He retained his consciousness and all knowledge from life. Jon was shown that this spiritual realm was "home" and understood that earthly life is a journey for soul enlightenment and evolution. He was then suddenly returned to his body on the dock with paramedics performing CPR. The experience confirmed his feelings about the afterlife and taught him that love for others and treating them well are life's most important aspects. After the NDE, Jon healed twice as fast as before and had prophetic dreams providing needed knowledge. The experience stopped his suicidal ideation as he learned that suicide prevents earning entry to the peaceful realm.
