During a suicide attempt by overdose in 1995, Amanda was clinically dead and had multiple out-of-body experiences. She encountered a male being who communicated telepathically and showed her good and bad things she had done. After being shocked back into her body repeatedly, she flatlined and rose out of her body, observing medical staff trying to revive her. She floated through walls and witnessed her mother crying with her aunt in another room. She could describe procedures the doctors performed and conversations they had while she was clinically dead. She was in a coma for three days before recovering. The experience left her knowing the afterlife is real, feeling like she exists in a different dimension where she can see and hear everything but cannot be detected by others.
