Stuart was traveling to pick up a friend when his car brakes failed at an intersection, causing him to slide into a 6-7 foot deep ditch at approximately 50mph. Despite wearing his seatbelt, he lost consciousness upon impact. During his NDE, Stuart found himself in pitch darkness that felt like a large room, then noticed he was in a tunnel with a pinprick of light moving toward him. The light was peaceful and calming, and he sensed other people present but felt no need to communicate with them. As the light approached, his deceased grandfather emerged from the tunnel wall and stood before him, telling him it wasn't his time and to go back. Stuart's grandfather had passed several years earlier, and Stuart still blamed himself for his death. The next thing Stuart remembered was collapsing on the edge of the road holding his chest, with no memory of how he got out of the car or removed his seatbelt. He was taken to the hospital for tests and released. When he later returned to the accident site with his parents, the car was barely visible down in the ditch. Stuart has no idea how long he was separated from his body but feels certain something significant happened that day.
