On January 19, 1976, Zenaida, seven months pregnant with her second child, experienced a profound NDE after fainting in the shower during strong contractions and hitting the back of her head on the toilet. With only a farm worker outside to hear her screams for help in Spanish, she lost consciousness with a significant skull injury that would keep her unconscious for 25 minutes. The experience began with her flying through a dark tunnel at what felt like faster than light speed, seeing a golden light in the distance that grew progressively closer and bigger. When she collided with the light, it was like sparks from a firecracker, and she crashed into what felt like a swimming pool filled with love instead of water.
She was suddenly transported to a gigantic hall resembling Grand Central Station but a hundred times larger, filled with billions of people in white robes of all races, ethnicities, genders, and ages. An overwhelming feeling of love reverberated through everyone present, accompanied by an endlessly playing song too perfect to describe. The space radiated crystal-clear vision and incredible auditory clarity. While floating and enjoying the pervasive sense of love, she felt emotions of elation, incredible joy, and a profound awareness that everyone is connected. She understood everything about the universe with a knowledge that felt like she had become one with existence itself. A hand suddenly grabbed hers - though she couldn't see who it was, she felt love radiating through the being's touch and felt completely secure. This being flew upward with her, leaving the magnificent hall behind and traveling through clouds. She saw the Earth's surface, then map-sized images of her island growing closer until she could see the central hospital in her town. The journey ended abruptly when she woke up in the intensive care unit surrounded by family and doctors. Despite the medical emergency lasting only 25 minutes, the experience felt like five million years because time seemed endless in that realm. Two months later, she successfully gave birth to her daughter. The experience transformed her from greatly fearing death to only slightly fearing it, eliminated her fear of living earthly life, and gave her an unequivocal belief in God's love. She gained the understanding that love means everything and that all people should work as one. Though she faced initial skepticism when sharing the experience with her mother and sisters, she now views it as a date with God that needed to happen to bring her closer to Him.
