Sharon was driving through a curve when her car made a breaking noise and began to slide. The vehicle rolled four times and hit a tree, with witnesses later photographing her lying under the car. She was not wearing a seatbelt and found herself twisted and jammed between the gear shifter and radio. After freeing herself and lying on the ground, she felt no cold despite winter conditions, no pain despite severe injuries including a crushed arm and head wounds. As she lay on the ground fading away, the real world was replaced by a distant glowing light. Moving closer, she saw three black shapes that lightened in color, revealing her deceased mother, grandmother, and dog Diamond. They exchanged telepathic greetings, and Sharon felt sheer joy and excitement, wanting to hug them. However, they backed away twice when she tried to touch them, explaining she could not stay because it was not her time yet. Despite her protests and desire to remain, they said goodbye and slid backward toward the brightest part of the light until fading away. The primary veridical observation was Sharon awareness of medical personnel talking while she could not see them, followed by her vision returning in the ambulance where she saw the female technician working on her. The experience completely eliminated Sharon fear of death and gave her certainty about the afterlife. She became significantly more compassionate toward strangers, believing good deeds help one reach heaven.
