Jean-Marc had suffered a stroke two days earlier with two recurrences and was in the intensive care unit. On the morning of his NDE, he felt dazed as he lifted from his bed, rising to the ceiling where he saw himself lying below. He observed two panic-stricken nurses caring for him but couldn't hear their conversation. His wife was later contacted to come quickly to the hospital.
He entered rapidly into a white tunnel, advancing toward an intense light with a floating sensation and sense of well-being. The experience lasted from 9:00 AM until he woke at 6:00 PM, though he didn't perceive this time passing. He didn't see anyone in the tunnel or hear anything, but experienced intense happiness throughout. After waking with his wife crying at his bedside, Jean-Marc sometimes regrets coming back due to ongoing serious health issues. He continues thinking about the experience and wishes he could have gone to the end of the tunnel. The tunnel was immaculately white with a very bright white light at the end. The experience has made him more tolerant toward others and changed how he looks at life. When sharing the experience, he receives mixed reactions - some people laugh while others take it seriously.
