In April 1977, eleven-year-old William E experienced an NDE during accidental suffocation. Following his parents' divorce and separation from family, he was living with grandparents and went to bed extremely upset, crying and hyperventilating face-down in his pillow to muffle the sound. He lost consciousness from lack of oxygen.
William felt very light and dizzy, then saw his pale, motionless body face down in the pillow about five feet below him. Though it was his body, he didn't identify with it as he was conscious above it. He felt a pulling sensation like ocean current and began rotating toward the ceiling corner. An explosion of extremely bright white light formed a tunnel that surrounded him, pulling him at high speed. A transparent but visible being accompanied him, smiling and telepathically communicating "Everything is fine." William felt safe, loved, and at peace. They arrived in a place of beautiful warm light with millions of people all saying "The time is near. Be ready for the day" in a loving roar. Music unlike anything on earth went through him - he became the music. A being of light too bright to look at directly spoke: "It's not your time. You have much to learn, go learn. Don't worry; you shall be with me someday. Go from me now." Despite not wanting to return, William was pulled back through the tunnel much faster than before, slammed into his cold, stiff, heavy body. Cold air rushed into his lungs as a voice commanded "Breathe." After warming up and regaining movement, he immersed himself in religion, reading the Bible and Oral Roberts books despite his young age. --- Biblical Summary --- Biblical elements: Direct encounter with God as being of light aligns with biblical descriptions.
