In 1957, five-year-old Wayne J experienced an NDE during a severe bout of pneumonia with high fever. He woke up to find himself hovering above his body in the bottom bunk of his bunk bed. His body appeared to be his own, and he observed it with a sense of normalcy rather than alarm. As he rose higher, he could see his brother sleeping in the top bunk and his baby brother in a nearby crib, both sleeping peacefully.
He continued rising through the ceiling, noticing the angled rafters in the attic as he passed through - a detail he later confirmed existed.
