Matteo could not swim and went into a lake to please his girlfriend. He lost his footing in deeper water and began drowning. After struggling and breathing in water, he had the thought "I can breathe water?" before accepting his fate. He then found himself floating several meters above the water, looking down at what he believed was his body. He experienced profound silence and felt connected to nature as part of a greater wholeness. He saw a woman with long curly red hair in a white robe kneeling at the shore, reaching toward the water to help him. In an instant, he was back in his body with renewed survival instinct, escaped the water, and vomited the water from his lungs. When he looked for the woman, no one was there, though he could see yellow pebbles exactly as viewed from above. He believes the woman may have been his deceased grandmother who saved him.
