In December 1978, seven-year-old MaErija experienced carbon monoxide poisoning when her mother, in an emotional state, lit a charcoal brasero in their bedroom with doors and windows sealed. As toxic smoke filled the room, MaErija lost consciousness. She then saw a golden figure radiating light above her bed who extended its arm and pulled her up. Following this beautiful beam of light, she found herself floating and unable to open the locked door. The figure, whom she recognized as Jesus with a shining face and loving eyes, passed through the door. After pleading to save her family, she witnessed Jesus knock three times on their neighbor's door. The neighbor, though not seeing anyone, was compelled to investigate and discovered the smoke, breaking the window to rescue the family. During recovery, MaErija saw the figure touch the door handle, enabling the rescue. After regaining consciousness, she encountered an angel with a bright sword who instructed her in acts of penance and told her she would see things others cannot. The experience marked the beginning of numerous spiritual encounters throughout her life, including visions of the Blessed Mother Mary and messages about future events. Physical evidence included unexplained stigmata-like wounds. The miraculous rescue, with the neighbor hearing knocks from an invisible source, provided external validation of the supernatural intervention.
