Todd was driving on an icy road at 65 mph when the car slid off the road and flew through the air approximately 50 feet high for 100 yards. During what should have been 8-10 seconds, Todd experienced 3-4 minutes of altered time. He was frozen and unable to move while experiencing his life passing before him, accompanied by voices repeating his own words and those of others from his past.
He saw the car from above in the sky and observed it moving beneath him. He heard strange vectors of air and sound not from the actual event. Before being returned to the car, a blurred figure asked him "Do you want to return?" Todd answered yes. He and his passenger found themselves back on the road facing the opposite direction with no damage to the car or injuries. Mysteriously, Douglas fir limbs were stuck in the car's frame despite an intact guardrail blocking the cliff. The gas tank was nearly empty despite recent filling. The next day Todd lost all his hair and his skin felt bleached, but hair regrew with no lasting effects. His passenger remembered nothing of the experience. --- Biblical Summary --- Biblical elements: Life review, out-of-body experience, encounter with spiritual being offering choice to return, miraculous preservation from death, and subsequent spiritual insights align with biblical accounts of divine intervention. The experience led to deeper understanding of eternal nature and religious truth. Unbiblical elements: Todd's later comments about using psychedelic drugs to reproduce aspects of the experience and his skeptical views about organized religion ("fear the holy God, don't challenge anything") suggest departure from biblical faith. His endorsement of consciousness-expanding substances contradicts biblical sobriety.
