During a cardiac catheterization procedure under local anesthesia, Caren experienced no complications initially and was scheduled for discharge after a 3-hour observation period. Upon attempting to use the restroom before discharge, she became lightheaded and lost consciousness while being helped back to her room. Her mother witnessed the medical emergency as nurses detected dropping blood pressure and loss of vital signs, prompting a code blue with crash cart deployment. Caren had no vital signs for approximately 30 seconds before recovering.
During the experience, everything went black followed by a bright light where she saw Jesus sitting in a green lawn chair. He appeared exactly as she expected with a white robe and glowing light surrounding him. Jesus simply smiled at her without speaking any words, and then she regained consciousness. Upon awakening, she immediately told her mother about seeing Jesus in the green lawn chair, specifically noting it was the type of chair her grandfather used when fishing. Though she did not see her grandfather directly, she intuitively knew Jesus was fishing with him. The veridical aspect centers on her out-of-body observation of Jesus in a specific green lawn chair, which she knew details about despite not directly seeing all elements. She maintained clear awareness of the chair's color and style matching her grandfather's fishing chair. This observation occurred while she had no vital signs according to medical staff. After the experience, Caren felt peace and calmness, gaining validation that Jesus exists and that her deceased grandfather is happy. The experience eliminated her fear of death and provided assurance of an afterlife.
