The experiencer was in a severe motorcycle accident with traumatic brain injury, broken ribs, back and pelvis injuries. He had no memory of the accident itself. During his unconscious state, he saw a glowing figure that he initially thought was himself. His primary concern was for his wife's wellbeing, thinking that if she died, he had no reason to stay. He heard a reassuring voice, which he believed was his wife's deceased mother, telling him "Honey, she is going to be alright let them take care of you." This reassurance made him happy and willing to accept care. He became conscious four weeks later and immediately shared with his wife that her mother had spoken to him. The experience has stayed vividly with him for fifteen years, though he sometimes questions its reality. The veridical element was hearing the voice of his wife's deceased mother providing reassurance about his wife's condition.
