During general anesthesia for a cesarean section, Larisa's heart stopped. After blacking out, she suddenly awoke in a rotating tunnel with metallic clanking sounds. The tunnel walls were light gray or pearl colored, divided into sections by darker round ribs. At the tunnel's end was a round exit with brighter white light visible beyond. She remained stationary while geometrical figures, mostly spheres, passed around her going into the distance. Unable to remember who or what she was initially, she had no awareness of having a body. Her thoughts became rapid and crystal-clear, feeling as if she knew everything and could receive answers to any questions. She felt she understood how life was arranged in the same fascinating way as this realm. Then she heard two voices - one asking "Well, is that enough?" and another objecting "But she's thrashing about." With tremendous speed, she was pulled back into her body and woke up. For about two weeks afterward, she perceived the real world as if through a dusty window with a persistent feeling that physical reality wasn't real.
