Tomasz was found unconscious by his sister with saliva blocking his esophagus and lungs, unable to be awakened. He remained comatose for 3-4 days in the hospital, possibly due to an ophthalmic migraine causing lung hypoxia. During this time, he experienced being in a wonderful, extremely bright white light that was everywhere yet not dazzling. The light was described as "good" and full of love and happiness. There was no sense of time or dimension in this realm. He felt everything needed for happiness existed there - no pain, no depression, just emotional wellbeing and awe. The experience felt completely natural, like he belonged there. When he returned to his body, he experienced intense disappointment and pain. Every heartbeat hurt, his brain ached with ophthalmic migraine, and everything felt small and limited compared to where he had been. Initially upon waking, he told the nurse she could ask him anything as he had complete knowledge, but it faded quickly like a dream. The experience transformed his life dramatically - he stopped smoking cigarettes completely despite being a heavy smoker, his depression lifted significantly, he became more forgiving and accepting of others, his prayer life changed to asking not to suffer rather than for protection, and he no longer fears death knowing the happiness that awaits. He emphasizes this was absolutely not a dream but a real experience of being "there."
