During a criminal attack in February 1999, Sonya had a gun pointed at her forehead and the trigger pulled, but miraculously the bullet stopped on her forehead and dropped to the floor. This began hours of violent assault including being stabbed multiple times, though she was unaware of the stabbing at the time as she was communicating with Jesus. She experienced being surrounded by bright white light that didn't hurt her eyes and heard Jesus speak to her in a clear voice, telling her "It is ok if you want to die now or you can choose to live." They had a long conversation that seemed to last much longer than the split second of earth time. Jesus appeared loving and kind with eyes that "oozed with love," though he also showed anger she understood but doesn't explain. During the experience, she was in both realms simultaneously - the physical and spiritual. She had heightened awareness and could hear conversations in other rooms. A friend with her reported seeing 5 attackers while she only saw 4, with one standing watching over her the whole time - she believes this was her guardian angel. She chose to live and was given knowledge about her future, knowing it would be hard. The experience left her knowing God exists, that Jesus is love incarnate, and gave her enhanced empathic abilities including feeling the emotions of animals.
