Renata, a diabetic, was transferred to the hospital after three days of vomiting. Upon arrival, she was left sitting in the hallway before being taken to a room. Her blood glucose had dropped to around 5, and by evening it reached 56. Laboratory results showed her blood contained no minerals and had blood density like syrup. She experienced three heart attacks, but was only successfully resuscitated after the third one, with resuscitation lasting about five minutes. She remained in a coma for nearly two weeks.
During her out-of-body experience, Renata observed everything happening in the room. She was sitting on the header of a metal bed as if it were very high, near the ceiling, looking down over her feet. She watched doctors shouting over each other and at nurses while observing everything calmly, wondering why they were so agitated when she felt fine. She saw both her limp dead body and what she perceived as her soul. She was fascinated by everything around her dead body and noted that the soul was not clear glass as she had expected. Renata experienced no tunnel, lights, deceased relatives, or other typical NDE elements. She felt peace and tranquility as if on a cloud, then was told it was not yet her time. Her heart began beating again and she was "sucked back" into her body. After waking, another patient began telling her what had happened to her medically, and Renata surprised her by saying she had seen it all. After the coma, she lost many memories but developed an even sharper photographic memory. She no longer fears death and accepts it as natural. A fortune teller had previously told her she would die twice but return both times.
