Seven-year-old Randy was on hyperactive medication and had just woken from a nap in September 1997. While going to pick up his aunt for karate lessons, he rode his bike down a hill and hit the front brake. He flew over the handlebars, became entangled in the bike, and slid over 20 feet. The handlebars injured his upper torso causing a bruised liver, and he suffered a 6-inch gash covering a crack in his skull, splitting his helmet completely in half.
Randy had an out-of-body experience where he could see everyone in the room including himself lying on the couch. He saw his friend's mom crying over his body and witnessed his mom and grandmother coming up the road and across the yard. He could hear them discussing calling the rescue squad and complaining about how long it was taking. After a deep breath, he returned to his body on the couch. Later at the hospital, Randy lost consciousness again and entered a very dark room where he couldn't see anything. Suddenly it became brilliantly bright with the whitest light imaginable. He heard a deep, soothing, powerful voice tell him it wasn't his time and he had to go back. When he asked why, the voice said "It's just not your time, son. You have to go back." Randy spent over two weeks in the hospital with cracked skull, broken ribs, bruised liver, and injured knees. His mother reported that a glowing lady in white scrubs with red hair touched his stomach and said everything would be fine. The next morning, tests showed the 6-inch gash had shrunk to razor-blade size, leading to full recovery.
