Dale experienced lethal arrhythmias after a widow-maker heart blockage while getting settings for his AICD device. Medical staff induced ventricular tachycardia or fibrillation but couldn't get him out of the deadly rhythm. During this time on the crash cart, he had an out-of-body experience where he looked down and saw everyone talking loudly and scurrying around. He felt no pain and experienced time as encompassing all time - past, present, and future simultaneously. He felt he was part of everything yet still a singular entity, with access to all knowledge and abundant love. There was no hate, confusion, or fear, only incredible joy and peace. He felt he could be anywhere at any time he wanted. Though not alone, no specific beings were with him. When he returned to his body, he was upset and noticed burn scabs on his chest from the resuscitation efforts. The experience completely erased his fear of death.
