Brenda experienced severe eclampsia at 30 weeks pregnancy, with feet so swollen she wore her husband's shoes. Hospitalized for extreme blood pressure, she endured a week of painful labor induction attempts before having a seizure. During the seizure, she couldn't breathe and experienced excruciating white pain so intense she stopped caring about her baby or husband, only wanting escape from the agony.
Her soul stepped sideways out of her body into the brightest light that felt like a room made of light. She felt overwhelming love and a male presence behind her, seeing a beautiful place with beings she didn't know but felt loved by. She was told she was dying and shown her husband's difficult future without her - raising their child alone while her mother tried to get custody and blamed him for her death. Given the choice to stay or return, she hesitated because the place was so beautiful, but decided she couldn't leave her husband with that burden. The being said "It's ok" and let her turn around to see her crying father kneeling over her. She returned to her body but couldn't wake up immediately. She woke three days later after suffering a stroke. Her baby survived at 3 lbs 2 oz with healthy lungs. Though her thyroid no longer works and her vision took 6 months to recover, both mother and child survived what should have been fatal eclampsia.
