Nathan was in 5th grade on a school trip when he and a friend were hit by a car while walking on a sidewalk. He had a sudden urge to push his friend toward the road just as a car came from behind, colliding with them and hitting the school wall. His life scrolled by in a flash while he traveled through a whirl-like tunnel toward a white light. The closer he got to the light, the more well-being he felt. He experienced many emotions and recalled deeply hidden, forgotten memories. Then he heard a woman screaming "My husband will kill me!" and found himself above his body, viewing the scene below - the woman crying beside her car, his friend stretched out on the ground, and himself lying 4-5 meters behind the car in the traffic circle. Feeling exasperated, he instantly returned to his body, took a breath, screamed "WHAT ABOUT US?!" and lost consciousness again. He briefly regained awareness seeing a fireman trying to reanimate him. He woke the next day in the hospital with bruises while his friend had a broken hip. Since his parents were abroad, he stayed with friends and didn't discuss the experience. The NDE gave him prescient abilities, frequent déjà vu, and a philosophical understanding of the universe. He later experienced his deceased father-in-law visiting him the night he died, and has had other out-of-body experiences including during a card game.
