Despite desperately wanting to stay, BJ chose to return, but not before demanding "damn miracles" to make it worthwhile, which was met with loving laughter. He awoke to a flatlined EKG alarm, completely restored. Following the experience, his senses of smell and taste were dramatically enhanced after decades of being burned out from drinking and smoking. He could now taste chemicals in processed food and smell chlorine in city water. He remains conflicted about the experience's reality despite its profound impact.
