Ming-Yi fell during school physical education and injured her left elbow badly. Later, when called for dinner, she fell on stairs and hit the semi-healed elbow. While scooping rice, she blacked out with a humming in her ears. She felt sucked upward through a beam of light and found herself standing on clouds surrounded by white misty fog, feeling warm. An elderly woman in a white robe, appearing about 80 but energetic, told her not to be afraid and that she would no longer feel desolate, lonesome, or painful, but be filled with complete love. The woman grew taller and Ming-Yi felt like a child holding her hand. She saw people in white robes standing and smiling, recognizing her deceased paternal and maternal grandfathers on her left, with unknown people on her right. When she heard someone calling her name repeatedly and turned around against instructions, she woke up. Her mother had been calling her name continuously to wake her. Though unconscious for only about two minutes according to her mother, it felt like hours to Ming-Yi. The experience changed her from someone opposed to Western religion due to family influence to someone who believes all religions have validity, strengthening her spiritual life significantly.
